Ofgem issues a warning and guidance for recent scam messages

Ofgem has issued a warning and some messaging around recent scam messages which claim to be from them. If you would like to share their tweet and website guidance with your networks, you can find them here.

Ofgem have been in touch to let us know about recent reports of scam messages claiming to be from the energy regulator. They have issued guidance via their social channels and website which you may want to share with your networks to help them to spot this scam. Read on for further details.

  • Ofgem would never ask customers for their bank details in this manner
  • They would never rush customers with this type of false deadline
  • Any link would always go to a secure Ofgem.gov.uk site
