Dementia Choirs and Singing Groups Funding Available

In response to the Power of Music report, a new fund is available to support dementia choirs and singing groups across the UK. Find out how to apply.

A £100,000 fund has been set up by the National Academy of Social Prescribing in partnership with the Utley Foundation, to support dementia choirs and singing groups across the UK. Find out full details below, including the 48 hour application window, between 9am on 13 February and 9am on 15 February.

The fund is in response to last year’s Power of Music Report, which called for investment in music programmes for health and wellbeing, among other recommendations. It follows Vicky McClure’s ‘Our Dementia Choir’ documentary which demonstrates the lifechanging power of music for people living with dementia and their loved ones.

Registration for the fund will be open for 48 hours between 9am on 13 February until 9am on 15 February with the first 100 choirs and singing groups receiving £1,000 each (weighted to ensure grants go to people across the country and to reflect diversity).

This small grant fund is intended to support social prescribing by helping choirs and singing groups come through a challenging winter and continue providing musical moments of joy to those living with dementia and their carers.

Details on how to apply, eligibility, and key dates can be found here.

The deadline for applications for the Cost of Living Response Fund is Friday 20 January.

The deadline for applications for the £5.3 million Cost of Living Response Fund is Friday 20 January 2023. You can find more information on the Fund and how to apply here.

To show you the kind of data you will be asked to provide in addition to your financial reporting, a draft monitoring template has been uploaded. Please take a look at this template to ensure you’ll be able to report on this information.

If you have any questions, then please contact Service.Design@ageuk.org.uk.

Cost of Living Response Fund reminder and updated materials

We have now updated the Cost of Living response Fund budget template and FAQs.

In December, we announced a £5.3 million Cost of Living Response Fund to support your organisation to continue delivering much-needed services for older people during this difficult time. A reminder that all applications for the Fund must be received by Friday 20 January. You can find more information on the Fund and how to apply here.

After helpful feedback on the Cost of Living budget template was received from an applicant, the template has now been updated to reflect the latest National Insurance changes made by the government on 6 November. These changes reduced the rate for employers’ payments from over 15% to 13.8% (which stands until April 2023). The formula in the budget spreadsheet, both in the example tab and the ‘tab to use’, now calculate the National Insurance at a rate of 13.8%.

If you have already submitted your application form, please do not worry. You do not need to do anything further, this will be taken into consideration whilst reviewing your application.

If you have not yet started completing your application form, please use the latest Budget Template on the loop. You can also use this link to access an expanded list of FAQs for applications to the fund. When completing the budget, please make sure to use the ‘tab to use’ spreadsheet in the file, and do not over-write the data in the ‘Example’ tab.

If you have any questions then please contact Service.Design@ageuk.org.uk.
