One week to go: Learning Session on Social Prescribing – 25th November

We’re hosting an online learning session on social prescribing on Thursday 25th November! Find out how to book your place.

There’s still time to book your place to hear about the learning gained through The National Lottery Community Fund Ageing Better programme. The event takes place from 10am – 11.30am on 25th November. We’ll focus particularly on social prescribing and hear about one social prescribing project hosted by a local Age UK.  Click here to book your place, or read on to find out all about the session.

Sarah Jewell, Programme Manager – Transformation, Age UK will host the session, which will include the following speakers:

Alex Hayes is Head of Funding at The National Lottery Community Fund where he leads the Ageing Better programme, a £87M investment to improve the lives of people aged over 50 by addressing social isolation and loneliness within local communities. Previously he worked in the voluntary sector for over 10 years.

Chris McClelland is Head of the Ageing Better ‘Brightlife Cheshire’ project which he has led since March 2016.  Brightlife (hosted by Age UK Cheshire) commissioned over 50 projects and delivered an innovative social prescribing, reaching over 3,000 older people at risk of social isolation in the rural, town and city communities of Cheshire West. Prior to joining the Brightlife project Chris enjoyed an extensive career designing, delivering and managing Careers, Connexions and Targeted Youth Support Services in a variety of North West England locations.

Christine McMahon enjoys a career that has included working with children and people of all ages.  Since joining Brightlife in 2016 this has focussed on championing and promoting a joyful, healthy, and connected lifestyle for older people as Social Prescribing Manager.  She now combines this with becoming Age UK Cheshire Services Manager, where she can continue to bring her passion, commitment, and insight to support services.

This Microsoft Teams session will provide the opportunity to hear ‘top tips’ for effective social prescribing, to ask questions of our panel and to spend time in group discussion with other attendees. Please sign up here and email with any queries. We look forward to seeing you on 25th November.
