Funding now available for Age UK’s Dementia Programme

Grant applications are now available for network partners to deliver Age UK’s new Dementia MCST Programme.

We are delighted to announce that grant applications are now available for network partners to deliver our new Dementia MCST Programme. Maintenance Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (MCST) provides older people with mild to moderate dementia with the opportunity to take part in weekly meaningful and stimulating activities that are proven to help maintain memory and mental functioning. The groups are also a fun, supportive environment where people can build new friendships and peer support.

This is a three-year programme, funded by the Association of British Insurers’ (ABI), and delivery will take place across three delivery cohorts, each lasting 12 months (3 months set up, 6 months of delivery and 3 months wind down). We expect the timescales for the three cohorts to be as follows:

  • Cohort One – April 2021 to March 2022
  • Cohort Two – January 2022 to December 2022
  • Cohort Three – October 2022 to September 2023

The current grant application round opening today applies to Cohort One, with up to 30 grants of £20,000 being available for network partners to apply for.

Previous experience of delivering MCST or other dementia services is not a prerequisite to receive funding, and we welcome applications from all network partners that can implement projects locally.

The deadline for applications for Cohort One (April 2021 to March 2022) is 12pm on Monday 1st March 2021. Any applications received after this deadline will not be considered.

If you have any issues or questions relating to the programme, please contact, and one of the team will get back to you.
